Christina
Puntoni,
soprano,
performs regularly as a soloist with the Lowell Opera Company, Lowell,
MA in
addition to her work as a recital and wedding soloist.
Acclaimed
for
her dramatic and heart wrenching portrayal of Santuzza
in Mascagni's
Cavalleria Rusticana, she has recently performed
the
dramatic role of Giorgetta in the Il Tabarro
portion of Puccini's Il Trittico, returned
to delight
audiences with a comic turn as Rosalinde in
Lowell
Opera’s staged production of Strauss’ Die Fledermaus
and
has appeared as the tragic Violetta in Verdi’s
La
Traviata. Ms.
Puntoni will appear as Nedda in this season's production of Pagliacci.
She
has
appeared in numerous opera galas and recitals around the Boston area.
Equally comfortable on both the grand stage and in a more intimate
setting, Christina performs regularly in LOC's cabaret series programs
on romance themes, Italian nights, etc. and frequently directs the
evenings as well, working with a variety of talented area singers.
Ms.
Puntoni began her career as a featured soloist with Sing Out!
Up With
People. She performed under Howard
Hanson’s
direction
of his work Drum Taps. She also participated in
the
world premiere of Apotheosis
of this earth
composed and
conducted by Pulitzer prize winner Karel
Husa
presented at
Carnegie Hall. Ms. Puntoni studied voice with Charles Quigley of Hartt
School
of Music, Patricia Craig of New England Conservatory, and Anna
Gabrieli of Longy School of Music and New England Conservatory. She
also studied ballet for many years with a variety of teachers including
the legendary Miriam Marmein.
In her spare time Christina designs and creates costumes for LOC, aids
with set design, teaches young singers and has a small but thriving
