Mauri Wheeler, mezzo-soprano



 Mauri Wheeler has sung a wide range of opera, musical theater and concerts series through out the New England region.  She has been described by her peers as a performer with great stage presence with an obvious love and understanding of the music she performs. 

Ms. Wheeler’s professional career began in 2000 after receiving her Masters in Performance from The Boston Conservatory.  She portrayed the role of Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus with the Bel Canto Vocal Academy of New Hampshire.  In  February, 2003 she appeared as Amneris, in Aida with Opera un-Met on the main stage of Jordan Hall.  In April 2004 Mauri's debut with Lowell Opera Company was in the role of Zita in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.  Mauri has been heard singing some great Opera Arias including the role of Carmen with the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra and Lowell Opera Company.

Mauri's solo work includes performances with the Spectrum Singers, Assabet Valley Master Singers, as the alto soloist for Handel’s Messiah with the Masterworks Chorale, and annually with the Opera Un-Met chorus.  She has performed in concert series with the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest (PAC), Bel Canto Vocal Academy, Opera un-Met, St. Botolph Club, New England Light Opera, Longwood Opera and the Paul Madore Chorale.  Ms. Wheeler also sang for the Art Song Master class with Metropolitan Opera’s Benita Valente for the National Association of Teachers Singing conference.  She is a soloist for St Andrews Church in Wellesley and a vocal instructor at the Performing Arts Center in Framingham.
